An EBSD Analysis on Microstructure of Directionally Solidified Fe-6.5%Si Alloy

Test plate of Fe 6 5%Si alloy is prepared by directional solidification,which is studied by optical microscope observation,X ray diffraction analysis,EBSD investigation and magnetic determination.The results indicate that the test plate consists of large dendrites with an average sectional diameter of 3mm,which grow along the diection of the directional solidification,100.Most of the boundaries between these dendrites are large angle grain boundaries,others are small quantities of low angle and CSL grain boundaries.It is also found that the test plate processes strong cubic texture and exhibits soft magnetic properties with a coercive force of 3.45A/m,which is lower than those of the Fe 6.5%Si alloys prepared by other method.
