Effect of Local Loading Stress on Distribution of Cylindrical Shell's Welding Residual Stress Field

The feasibility of reducing the welding residual stress by local loadings was verified using the FEM technology.The differences in the mechanism of reducing stress in welding and after welding are compared.The results show that the effect of the former is better than that of the latter.When an external force of 200MPa is applied to,the maximum residual tensile stress after welding went down from 235MPa(under conventional condition) to about 90MPa while the maximum residual tensile stress in welding might decrease to 30MPa.
