The TWIP Steel Research Work at Present

The present situation and the progress made in research on twinning induced plasticity(TWIP) steel are summarized.The different composition systems of TWIP steel,i.e.Fe-Mn-Al-Si,Fe-Mn-C and Fe-Mn-Al-C steels are introduced,together with the effects of each alloying element.The composition design based on the stacking fault energy,the method used to calculate stacking fault energy,influencing factors and the relationship between stacking fault energy and the TWIP effect are described.The TWIP steel's microstructure,mechanical properties and challenges met in its production and treatment are presented.
