Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of DP600 Dual-phase Steel Trial-produced by Baosteel 1880 mm Hot Rolling Mill

The hot-rolled dual-phase steel(600 MPa) was successfully trial-produced by Baosteel 1 880 mm hot rolling mill through intensive water cooling-air cooling-water cooling mode and low temperature coiling.It adopted the Si-Mn composition design and brings into full play the mill's intensive cooling and coiling abilities.The test results show that a reasonable cooling speed,intermediate holding temperature and time are the key factors to obtain hot-rolled dual-phase steel with a proportional ferrite plus martensite microstructure and excellent mechanical properties,which satisfy the designed requirements of the dual-phase steel(600 MPa).It has been discovered that the cooling and coiling processes can obviously affect the dual-phase steel's microstructure and mechanical properties.As the cooling conditions at the coil's top and tail are not the same,which lead to great fluctuation in mechanical properties at different locations.
