Correlation between Structure Thermal Decomposition Characteristics and Burning Rate of the Monopropellants

The correlation between structure, thermal decomposition characteristics and burning rate of the monopropellants, including AP, HMX, RDX, CL-20 and NQ, was studied by the steady state combustion model based on the single-dimensional gas flow of solid propellants. The combustion characteristics of the monopropellants were estimated by the improved model of burning rate, whose algorithm was based on the structures and thermal decomposition characteristics of the high energy materials. With the help of the comparison of the measured and predicted burning rates of the monopropellants, the rationality of hypothesis of the improved model was substantiated.
