Performance Analysis of Cycloconverter Based on Mallab

Cycloconverter consists of 36 pieces of thyristor, the intercepying parts of input voltage are put together to form output voltage. Trigger pulse time is controlled with cosine-nodical method. The main circuit of cycloconverter consists of two rectifiers in reverse parallel connection. The main part of trigging pulses control module for thyristor is a synchronized 6-pulse generator, which outputs double-narrow pulse to control the thyristor to be on or off state. System modeling also consists of two thyristor commutating current mode and shift operation mode between positive and negative converters. The positive converter makes the load current to be positive in trigging control, while the negative converter is negative. The modeling is simulated to make it operate with different loads, and harmonic characteristics of output voltage and current for the cycloconverter are analyzed.
