A REGRESSION STUDY OF THE BALLISTIC CHARACTERISTICS PREDICTION BY MEANS OF THE CLOSED BOMB TEST
It is of significance in examining and monitoring stored solid-propellants that their ballistic characteristics are predicted or estimated by means of closed bomb tests. The method involving RQ (relative quickness) and RF (relative force) has been used in the U. S., and has shown to be imperfect. This paper gives an improvement on the EQ-RF method and presents optimal regression equations in terms of the optimal variable class, making use of the theory of Equilibrium of Interior Ballistic Potential and morden statistical methods. It is found that for the prediction of muzzle velocity and chamber pressure, different combustion parameters should be used. The results presented in this paper shows a higher precision in favor of the present method when compared with the conventional ones in use.
