COMBUSTION MODELING OF HTPB PROPELLANTS AND ITS GRAPHICAL REPRESENTATION

A large number of numerical modeling calculations for the combustion characteristics of "AP/HTPB/Al/Cat." propellants have been made and compared to the experimental data. The results are graphically depicted in three-dimensional figures. From these figures the effects of the catalyst(ferrocene) and similar factors on the burning rate and pressure exponent of propellants can be seen clearly and directly. The burning rate and pressure exponent of a designed formulation, also the required formulation for a desired burning rate and pressure exponent can be graphically obtained. In this paper the method of arriving at such kind of three-dimenslonal graphs from numerical results with the aid of a microcomputer is briefly introduced.
