A STUDY ON THE EFFECT OF PARTICLE SIZE UPON LASER SENSITIVITY

Electromagnetic theory, wave particle duality of light and hot spot theory are applied to study the effects of particle size upon the laser sensitivity. The effects of increase in absorption, relaxation acceleration, Mie scattering as well as uniform absorption on laser sensitivity are analyzed in the paper. The conclusion is arrived at that energetic materials with the smaller particle size have the higher laser sensitivity. The results of theoretical analysis are in accord with that of experiments.
