GROUND CLUTTER MODELS AND SIMULATION FOR TWO TYPES OF AIRBORNE RADARS

Discusses the ground clutter model and simulation for airborne radars. Doppler and scattering characteristics of ground clutter for airborne radars are analyzed. Based on the clutter model proposed by Klemm R, ground clutter energy distribution are then discussed using space time two dimensional spectrum according to different features of airborne early warning radar and synthetic aperture radar respectively. Two ground clutter models and simulation methods are presented on different conditions. The two models presented are simple and practicable. Radar data collected by the MountainTop Project USA and an airborne experimental radar are used to testify the above two models. Comparison of results has proved their applicability.
