FREE-SURFACE VELOCITY OF METAL PARTS DRIVEN BY EXPLOSIVES MEASURED WITH VISAR INTERFEROMETER

For observing the details of movement of metallic parts driven by explosive detonation, free surface velocities of the metal plates were measured with the VISAR interferometer. Processes of obtaining parameters for the VISAR interferometer and ways of dealing with the originality wave signals are introduced. Loss of signals and the methods for judging the numbers of lost stripes, and the revision of velocities are discussed. For the single sensitiveness VISAR interferometer, the numbers of lost stripes in signals can be judged by calculating the velocities so as to get accurate experimental results.
