Interaction-terramechanics of Vehicles on Mechanized Road Equipments

To predict the trafficability of tires on mechanized road equipments,the main structures of military mechanized road equipments and the corresponding terramechanics behavior were discussed.Two failure modes including the U style sinkage mode and the V style sinkage mode were suggested.An energy method was proposed to judge the the trafficability.The drawbar pull work of U and V sinkage modes were computed and compared by defining the difference between the driving work and the resistance work.Thus the critical width of road beams were suggested.The influences of sinkage,adhesive coefficient and pressure-sinkage parameter were discussed.And the restrictions on sinkage,adhesive coefficient and pressure-sinkage parameter were suggested. Due to the consistency between the theoretical prediction and test,the energy method is effective to engineering practices.
