Comparative Study of Esterase Isozymes in Six of Apis

Esterase isozymes in six species of Apis were investigated with isoelectric focusing electrophorisis with polycrylamide gel. All the six species could be unequivocally distinguished from each other by their zymograms. According to the zymogram, the six species could be separated into three groups, mellifera-cerana group, dorsata group and audreniformis group. It is possible that A. audreniformis is the most original among the Apis species because zymogram of A. audreaiformis is very similar to that of Trigona.
