Remote Sensing Aerosol with MODIS and the Application of MODIS Aerosol Products

The techniques of retrieving aerosol optical depth from EOS MODIS was introduced first, then our several recent research works with MODIS were summarized, including calibrating the MODIS 10 km Level 2 products of NASA by our surface sun photometer observations, analyzing the aerosol distribution patterns over China, remote sensing high resolution (1km) aerosol optical depth products and applying the aerosol products on studying the air pollution problems. Our results prove that the MODIS remote sensing to obtain aerosol distribution over China provides not only the basic data for global and regional climate change study but also a new tool on regional air quality studies.
