Effects of Neutron Irradiation on Nanodiamond: Raman Spectroscopy Study

Nanodiamond treated by neutron irradiation is studied by Raman spectroscopy. The energy of the fast neutron flow is 0 5~10?MeV. The diamonds were irradiated at temperature about 45?℃ up to doses of 10 16 ~10 17 ?n·cm -2 . After irradiation, the Raman band assigns to sp 3 diamond near 1?326?cm -1 move to lower wavenumber and its half width increased. And the Raman spectroscopy also shows that affected by the energy induced by neutron flow, some the sp 2 graphite phase in nanodiamond powder transform to sp 3 diamond during the irradiation process.
