Investigation on Rising Velocity of Taylor Bubble in Upward Vertical Slug Flow

The rising velocity of Taylor bubble in upward vertical slug flow has been studied by applying the potential flow theory. The effect of the liquid velocity profile on the bubble motion is discussed, and the equation for predicting the shape of Taylor bubble nose is derived. Approximate expressions for the Taylor bubble velocity are proposed, and shown to be in good agreement with the experimental data.
