Measurements and Analysis of Stress in Soil Nails of Chaowai SOHO Project

The actual stress in soil nails is very different from theoretical analysis, so in-situ measurements in Chaowai SOHO project in Beijing, the method that placing the reinforcing steel bar-stress measuring apparatus in primary reinforcing steel bar to gain actual pull force is adopted in this paper. When the soil-nailing is under operation, contrast between the actual pull force and the value calculated by current regulations is made. The result of the study shows that the stress in soil nails along the length direction display parabola distribution, and the actual pull force in soil nails about half of the value is gained by theoretical calculation.
