Adsorption properties of heavy metal ions from wastewater with chitosan-chelated bead

The adsorption properties of chitosan chelated bead and Ni 2+ template bead chitosan resin for removing some heavy metal ions from wastewater were studied by molecule imprinting mothed. The results show that the chitosan chelated bead has higher stability in the dilute acid solution than the chitosan resin; and can be reused 10 times without an appreciable loss of the adsorption capacity, while the adsorption capacities of Ni 2+ template bead chitosan resin for Ni 2+ ?Zn 2+ and Cu 2+ in solutions are two times that of the normal chitosan resin. In addition, the adsorption properties of chitosan chelated bead and some other commercial absorbents for removing Ni 2+ and Ni 2+ in citric acid were compared. The results indicate that the adsorption capacities of chitosan chelated bead are very close to those of other commercial absorbents.
