Synthesis and characterization of thermotropic liquid crystalline polyamide

A novel kind of polyamide containing a great mass of ester bonds in its backbone was synthesized via a solution condensation reaction at low temperatures. The polymer was characterized by techniques such as FT IR, DSC, POM and SEM. The results demonstrate that this novel polyamide has an obvious liquid crystalline behavior when being heated into molten state, and is a typical kind of thermotropic liquid crystal.
