Structure and properties of modified superoxide dismutase

Superoxide dismutase(SOD) was separately modified by chain and ring derivatives of β-cyclodextrin,resulting in two kinds of products,chain SOD(CSOD) and ring SOD(RSOD),respectively.The contents of aldehyde and free amino groups,and SOD activities were determined by means of chemical analysis.The typical absorption bands of β-cyclodextrin derivatives were observed in the FTIR spectra of RSOD and CSOD,demonstrating that SOD had been successfully modified by the β-cyclodextrin.The acid-resistance of RSOD was found to be 3.6 times greater than that of SOD and the thermal stability was markedly increased.In contrast,the thermal stability of CSOD was decreased by 37% relative to that of SOD.
