Effect of accelerators on the early strength of steel slag cementitious materials

The effect of different accelerators on the early strength of steel slag cementitious materials has been studied.The results show that though inorganic accelerators can improve early strength of steel slag cementitious materials,28d strength of the steel slag cementitious materials decreased.Calcium formate,triethanolamine,sodium acetate and urea had almost no effect on the early strength of steel slag cementitious materials,and combinations of these organic accelerators also had no effect.A combination of semi-hydrated gypsum/sodium nitrite(1%/0.67%) and urea(0.22%) afforded some increase in 3d strength of steel slag cementitious materials,and 28d strength of steel slag cementitious materials declined by less by 11%.
