Experimental Study on Critical Ventilation Velocity in Tunnel

According to Froude criteria,a reduced small-scale tunnel model is used to investigate the influence of longitudinal ventilation velocity on the movement of smoke produced by fire.A nature gas burner with heat release rate ranging from 0.28 to 1.32 kW is used as fire source in the experiments.The natural gas flow rate is measured by using gas flowmeter and the smoke temperature in tunnel is measured by using K-type thermocouples.The relationship between critical ventilation velocity and heat release rate are studied.It is presented that the non-dimensional ventilation velocity is proportional to 1/3 power of non-dimensional heat release rate.
