Discoveries and Understanding of the Early Bronze Cultures in the Plain of Songhua River & Nen River

Zhao Binfu
With the retrospect of the history of discoveries and research this article points out the limitation and inaccuracy in understanding of the early bronze cultures in the Plain of Songhua Nen River and put forward a new point of view that these cultures could be named "the Xiao-laha Culture".Meanwhile, based on the archaeological evidences found in sites of Bai-jinbao and Xiao-laha,this paper divides the Xiao-laha Culture into two stages. The discovery and acknowledgement of the Xiao-laha Culture not only fills in the gaps in the study of the early bronze cultures in the Plain of Songhua Rwer Nen River but also solves ultimately the problem of the whereabouts of the Ang-angxi Culture which dated to the later stage of the New Stone Age in this region and the problem of origins of the Bai-jinbao Cul- ture which dated to the later stage of the Bronze Age.
