Jing Zhong-Wei
The Laoniupo site in Xi'an City contains the cultural remains of the Xia period. This cultural remains are characterized by floral-border-mouthed jars.Seven tombs were found, and the burial ar- tifacts were megaphone-mouthed,long-necked and round-bellied jars, with or without ears, and stone bi (round flat stone with a hole in its center),which are quite special. This provides a start- ing point of reference for the exploration of Xia culture in the eastern Guanzhong region. On the basement of the cultural remains of the Xia period in Laoniupo site,we have some discussion on the cultural remains of the Xia period in the eastern Guanzhong region, and agree on the name of the Culture of The Type of Laoniupo, and point that there are serials of the development in the early and late periods. It is contemporaneous with one and two stages of the Erlitou culture. We carry out firstly some conclusions that the Culture of The Type of Laoniupo may be related to Quanyi recorded in ancient literature.
