Objective To investigate the therapeutic results of inner fixing and crown repair for the treatment of vertical fractures of molar. Methods Ninety-eight cases of vertical fracture of molars were treated first by inner fixing with stainless steel wire piercing the fractured crown bucally and lingually, and then by artificial crown after root canal therapy. 102 cases of vertical fracture of molars were treated by wire ligation around the neck and then crown repair, which served as a control. The treatment results were evaluated and compared. Results Ninety cases were successful and 8 failed in inner fixing group, with a success rate of 91.83%. Sixty-three cases were successful and 39 failed in control group, with a success rate of 61.76%. Conclusion The vertical fractured molars should be treated as early as possible. The rate of conservation was high after inner fixing and crown repair.
