Finite Element Computation of the Characteristic of Transverse Self-Oscillation for a Slender Spinning Rocket

The transverse self oscillation characteristics of a spinning rocket in flight is studied. Rotor dynamics and finite element method is made use of, taking into consideration the continuous gyroscopic effect. Finite element equations of transverse vibration of the spinning rocket is presented by means of the Lagrange equation. With this equation and through numerical analysis can be obtained the precession speed, critical speed, and the relevant modes of deflection and angular vibrations.
