Ultrasonic Absorption and Attenuation in Crude Oil

Abstrcat Crude oil as a mixture, has some of its features varying with the temperature. In certain range of temperatures, experimental results on the viscosity, acoustic velocity, absorption and attenuation behavior of ultrasonic waves in two varieties of crude oil samples are studied acoustically using rotary viscometer and pulse through-transmission. The crude oil samples are taken from Shengli and Liaohe oil fields. Relevant fitted-curves, empirical formulae and amended-formula for viscosity-temperature, coefficient of absorbability and attenuation-frequency, velocity of sound-temperature and power of velocity of sound-temperature of ultrasonic wave have been obtained for the coefficients of these parameters. It is found that all of the parameters for both kinds of crude oil samples decrease when temperature increases.
