Removing Toluene and Chlorobenzene by Dielectric Barrier Discharge Introduced Monopolar Pulse-Power Supply

Dielectric barrier discharge (stainless-steel electrode with screw, quartz barrier) under a monopolar pulse voltage was studied to decompose toluene and chlorobenzene. Experimental results indicate that this reactor can effectively inject pulsed energy, and can combine advantages of short pulse corona discharge and dielectric barrier discharge. High-voltage pulse enhance the intensity of electric field and produce strong instant discharge and energized particles responsible for effective fission of chemical bonds, consequently, removal efficiency of VOCs is increased. In addition, experimental results indicate that chlorobenzene is removed more difficultly than toluene.
