Decoloration of Acid Orange 7 Dye Aqueous Solution by a Multi-Needle -to-Plate High Voltage Pulsed Discharge Plasma System

Decoloration efficiency of azo dye (acid orange 7, AO7) wastewater using a multi-needle-to-plate high voltage pulsed discharge plasma system was investigated. The obtained results showed that the multi-needle-to-plate high voltage pulsed discharge plasma system could decolor AO7 efficiently. In the case of the uniform pulsed voltage, effect of varied parameters, including pulsed frequency, electrode distance of the pulsed discharge system, initial pH and concentration of the dye aqueous solution, on the decoloration rate was reviewed. Under the condition of 30 kV pulsed voltage, 75 Hz pulsed frequency, and 2.5 cm electrode distance; decoloration efficiency of AO7 could reach 92.7% after 60 min discharge treatment. These conclusions provided an experimental foundation for the further study on the discharge effect of a multi-needle-to-plate pulsed discharge plasma system.
