Research Progress in Cellulosic Biomass Pyrolysis

Cellulosic biomass is the most abundant renewable resources in the world. It is promising to convert it into high value products through pyrolysis technology. Pyrolysis is thermal degradation either in the complete absence of oxidizing agent, or with such a limited supply that gasification does not occur to an appreciable extent. Bio oil, char and gas are main products of pyrolysis. With this process, the low energy density in biomass can be converted into the products with high energy density and many chemicals can be obtained. Research progress in cellulosic biomass pyrolysis, such as pyrolysis principle, reactors, parameters, product components and its characters are reviewed.
