How Thickness Changes in Bending Wide Sheets

A new approximate solution to figuring out thickness reduction in bending sheets is presented in views of the characteristics of deformation and stress distribution.The proposed method is based on the incremental theory,volume invariance and planar cross_section are assumed.As a case in point,the sheet reduction ratio and the distance from the neutral plane to inner boundary are calculated in comparison with published data.A fairly good agreement is obtained between the calculated results and the experimental data.
