To evaluate safety of teas sold in Beijing,57 tea samples randomly collected on Beijing market are analyzed for their Pb and Cu content by means of atomic absorption spectrometry.Pb concentration is found to be in the range(0.198-6.345) mg/kg,with only one sample exceeding the maximum permissible concentration(MPC) of 5 mg/kg given by Chinese Ministry of Health while Cu concentration range from 1.790 to 48.19 mg/kg,with all samples below the MPC of 60 mg/kg for Cu.The result can make consumers reassured about the safety of teas marketed in Beijing.
