APPLICATION OF INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR LAND RESOURCE OF SMALL WATERSHED TO THE PLANNING OF SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION

In connection with a project for the soil and water conservation in Haihe Valley and Loess Plateau (North China), the feasibility of introducing information management systems and remote sensing techniques to land resources inventory and soil and water conservation planning in small watershed was investigated. The results proved that adoption of such methods greatly improved quality and efficiency of such work. Compared with the traditional methods, the speed of investigation was increased 20 times, while working cost reduced to one half, the speed of collecting land resources statistics and of making decision about optimized planning were increased 400 times by information management system.
