STUDIES ON ECOSYSTEM OF PINUS TABULAEFORMIS PLANTATIONS( Ⅱ ) A comparison of productivity between the stands in Taiyue,Shanxi Province, and that in Chengde, Hebei province

The biomass of Pinus tabulaeformis plantations in Taiyue mountains, Shanxi province were measured in 1979, 1980, and that in Chengde, Hebei province were measured in 1981. Both were compared and analysed carefully. The results showed that productivity of the plantations in Chengde was lower than that in Taiyue.1 . The biomass of the plantation in Chengde were 14% less than that in Taiyue.2. The stem biomass in Chengde was 19% less than that in Taiyue, but branch biomass in Chengde were 10% more than that in Taiyue.3. The total foliage biomass in Chengde was 10% less than that in Taiyue. Nevertheless, the proportion of foliage biomass in distribution are similar in both.Causes of lower productivity of the stands in Chengde are more complex, but stand density and variation in climate are the main factors, and density plays a leading role.
