STUDIES ON THE SPATIAL DISTRIBUTION PATTERNS OF DENDROLIMUS SPECTABILIS LARVAE

Xia Naibin Ma Zhanshan Tu Quanhong(Forestry Department) (Department of Fundamental Courses)
Spatial distribution patterns of pine lappet caterpillar (Dend-rqlimus spectabilis Butler) were measured by Chi-square test of frequency distribution and seven indices of distribution pattern. The results show the followihg aspects: 1) Spatial distribution pattern of pine lappet caterpillar, obeys the common negative binomial distribution, the basic component of spatial distribution pattern is loose colony and the distribution of colony also is aggregative. (2) The intra-colony distribution is random. (3) The mean size of colony is two Chinese pines and equal to about seventy individuals.(4) After transformation with Iwao's method, the seven groups data of eight groups obey normal distribution, addivity of effect and homogeneity of variance, before transformation, the eight groups data are all non-normal distribution, non-additivity and heterogeneity of variance. (5) The aggregative distribution is caused by biological characteristics feeding behavior of pine lappet caterpillar.
