A new calculation method for debris flow based on transport density of gully bed.

The regulation effect of hydraulic conditions of gully bed on the debris flow density and the important influence of slurry density of debris flow on the gully transport capacity are taken into account while establishing the new method. The liquid body density is estimated through the sediment production conditions of the valley, then the debris flow quantity is determined based on the transport density of gully bed. The comparative test shows that the calculated discharge is close to the discharge from pattern investigation. The average relative error is -6 9%, the maximum is -14%.
