Stand structure and growth of Betula platyphylla forests in Bashang plateau and Baxia mountain.

Wang Qingsuo;Luo Juchun;Zhang Xihe. Journal of Beijing Forestry University. (2000)22(3)96~98[Ch,6 ref.] College of Resources and Environment, Beijing For. Univ., 100083, P. R. China.
The tree height, diameter at breast height and growing stock of Betula platyphylla forest stand are lower in the Bashang Plateau than those in the Baxia Mountain in northern Hebei Province and eastern Inner Mongolia. The height, diameter and volume increments of Betula platyphylla are lower in the Bashang as well. This is because less precipitation is occurred in the Bashang Plateau, the forest steppe ecotone, by comparing with Baxia Mountain, the forest region.
