Application and accuracy analysis of forest height measurement with LIDAR technology.

This paper introduces the approach of forest height measurement based on TerraSolid processing software platform with airborne light detection and ranging(LIDAR) data.The relative research and experiments were carried out at Changping Experiment District in Beijing.It is indicated that by measurement and analysis of LIDAR cloud point data,forest height measurement is available.According to the comparison with height results of outwork and correlation analysis,it is illuminated that the method mentioned above could meet the accuracy requirement,of forest investigation.At the same time,based on the experiment,the error causations during measurement with LIDAR data were analysed and summarized.The analysis results are helpful for LIDAR application and extension to forest biomass measurement.
