Stability analysis of Robinia pseudoacacia forest side slope with slice method

To study the effect of root system on slope stability,Swedish slice method was conducted.The authors also analyzed the effect of density of cultivation,stand age,slope length,slope gradient and rainfall on Robinia pseudoacacia forest slope stability.Results indicate that when the density of cultivation and stand age increased,the minimum safety factor decreased,the slope stability slightly reduced,and its effect could be neglected.The minimum safety factor is decreasing obviously as slope length and slope gradient increase,the slope stability declines.In the condition of raining,the minimum safety factor decreases with increased soil water content,the slope tend to be unstable.On the basis of analyzing the most unsafe case of density of cultivation,stand age,slope length,slope gradient and rainfall,the stability of forest slope and unforest slope was contrasted.The result is that the minimum safety factor of forest slope was bigger than unforest slope,i.e.forest slope has better stability.Root system can substantially contribute to slope stability.
