Breeding of New Variety of Rugosa-Rose

Tang Shunqing(Pingyin Rugosa-Roes Research Institute,Shandong,250407)  
From 1960 to 1982,on the basis of the collection of breeding materials, thechoice of the parents and the observation of the inheritance,five types of rugosa-rose,viz,highyield type,ornamentaltype,high-yield and ornamental type,rust-resistant type andrust-immune type were obtained by means of intra and interspecific crosses. The field com-parison experiments of five different types conducted from 1989 to 1992 showed that the yieldof fresh flowers was higher than that of the control,and the best one had a yield 194.5%higher than the control.The rate of oil extracted from flowers is no less than the control,thescent being a rose type.
