A Study on Soil Moisture Content Dynamics of Pinus tabulaeformis Plantation in Taiyue Forest Region

The soil moisture content dvnamics of Pinus tabulaeformis planted with differ-ent canopy density and abandoned land during growing season is discussed.It shows that thewater-storage capacity of abandoned land is more than those of forest lands,and the morecanopy density is,the less the water- storage capacity is,The soil moisture content is mainlyinfluenced by precipitation,transpiration and evaporation, In dry seasons , moisture contentof forest land is mainly influenced by transpiration distribute as“V”form from the upper tolower soil layers,the moisture content of layer 20~40cm is the least, and the more canopydensity is,the less this value is.With the coming of rainy season, the largest crests of mois- ture content of each soil layer emerge in turn, the crests in abandoned land appear ealier andthe values are less than forest lands, the more canopy density is,the later and more the crestis. After rainy season, transpiration turns to be a main factor, the soil moisture content offorest land is more than that of the abandoned land.With the increment of the depth of soillayer,the moisture content of forest land is more stable.
