Dust Removal by Green Areas in the Residential Quarters of Beijing

Three types of green areas within residential quarters of Beijing are chosen for analysis of their effects on dust removal. The potentials of dust removal of individual plants are studied in detail. In 1995,the total estimated removal by vegetation in the study areas was 2 170 t. The result also indicates that the physical benefit is subject to the total leaf biomass of vegetation per unit green area.
