Quantitative Evaluation of Effects of Water Conservation Forest on Conserving Soil and Water in the Upper Stream of Miyun Reservoir

A practical method for evaluating the effects of soil and water conservation forest is applied in Miyun County, the upper stream of Miyun Reservoir of Beijing.The result shows that the forest has a great ability for conserving soil and water in contrast to the wasteland.Under the storm with the frequency of every 50 years,there is 38.8% reduction in runoff,53.8% reduction in soil erosion and 83.3% reduction in annual soil erosion.
