Change of Plasma Endothelin in Heart and Cerebral Vascular Diseases and Its Clinical Significance

Li Ping, Liu Zhiwu (Department of Internal Medicine, Tianjin Gongan Hospital, Tianjin 300050)
Endothelin(ET) levels of plasma in heart and head vascular diseases by radioimmunoassay were meassured. Average plasma concentration of ET in the patients was elevated significantly. In the 50 patients with AMI it was 98.31±28.41ng/mg( P 0.01), and in the 95 patients with CHD was 70.03±26.62ng/mg( P 0.01),and in the 49 patients with cerebral infarction with hypertension was 88.49±30.23ng/mg( P 0.01),and in the 31 patients with cerebral infarceion with diabetes mellitues was 68.78±26.44ng/mg( P 0.01),and in the 18 patients with bleeding of head and with hypertension was 62.20±19.72ng/mg( P 0.01).The results demonstrated that elevated plasma ET concentrations were related to these complications. The changes of ET suggested that the endocrine function of ET was very important in pathogenesis of heart and head vascular disease with its complications.
