Development of a Portable Home ECG and Blood Pressure Monitoring Device Based on 80C196KC Micro-controller

The portable monitor device has been developed based on an 80C196KC Micro controller that can store ECG data for 8 hous. The 16 bity micro controller is the core unit. it also includes Flash memory as storage module, Socket modem as communication module, touch pad keyboard, blood data interface, LCD display module, and power supply conversion module. The significant feature is that, it integrated the functions of sampling, analysis, storage, and displaying together. It can monitor the ECG and identify abnormal waves dynamically. It can also send out an alarm by transmitting the ECG and blood pressure data to the hospital center through the telephone line when it is necessary and receive the doctor's medical advices. The software of the device can detect six kinds of arrhythmia and display the ECG waves, heart rate(HR), and the numbers of PVC and PAC. By testing with some of the MIT ECG data, the result indicated the hardware design was reasonable and the software of ECG analysis algorithm, the real time operation and veracity of disease detection met our requirements. The veracity of QRS detection is up to 99 9% and the arrhythmia detection is up to 95%.
