The Study on the Interaction of Plane Electromagnetic Wave with Human Body in Hyperthermia Process

Based on the theory of plane electromagnetic wave propagation,the transmission coefficients,the reflection coefficients and the penetration depths are calculated in the case of vertically incident electromagnetic wave with various frequencies on the surface of human body.The results show that the reflection coefficients are larger than the transmission coefficients in whole range of calculated frequencies.Though the penetration depth increases with frequency reduction,the reflection coefficient becomes larger markedly.So the majority of the incident electromagnetic wave does not penetrate inside human body due to the reflection on its surface.It is concluded that the key factor for improving hyperthermia effect is the reuse of the reflected electromagnetic wave. Some relevant measures have also been proposed.
