Eastern and Western:Both as Noumenon and as Function——Innovative Transformation of Traditional Chinese Culture

WANG Jiang-song(School of Culture Communication,China Labor Relation College,Beijing 100037,China)
The intricate development of the modern Chinese history in the past over 100 years shows that to fulfill the modernization of Chinese culture must be preconditioned by dispelling the binary opposition between the conservatism, quintessentialism and radicalism of the traditional culture on the one hand, and the entire westernization of it on the other:the former holds tenaciously on the Chinese tradition while the latter abandon it,neither of which could achieve its innovative transformation from its tradition to the modernization. To treat the eastern and western as both the Noumenon and the function is a new cultural transformation strategy without the aforementioned binary opposition. The fundamental way to achieve it is to explore the heterogeneity, negativity, and modernity of the traditional Chinese culture, and combine them with the outstanding resources of the western culture.Only then could the transformation be realized.
