The Household Conceptions and Styles of Beijing Scholar-bureaucrats in Qing Dynasty

As a city of a long history and culture,Beijing has always been abundant in scholar-bureaucrats who are typical dwellers of the city. And their household styles could be a reflection of social conceptions,values and vogues of the time. In Qing Dynasty,such styles were not only luxurious but also restrained by the feudal etiquettes,and generally the combination of house and garden was popular throughout the city. However,the etiquettes,which refrained houses constructions,had few effects on gardens' building.
