Water environment quality assessment in Shunyi District based on GIS

Water environment quality assessment was conducted in Shunyi District according to the single factor assessment, Kebdall test and synthetic factor assessment. The results showed as follows: Most of surface water (except the Chaobai River) did not meet the requirements for V class water(GB 3838 - 2002). Most of underground water meets the requirements of Ⅲ class water (GB/T 14848-93) . The amount of wastewater is large and most of the wastewater is from the industry,also the large amount of fertilizer and pesticide is used . In the assessment process, the spatial analysis capacity of GIS was fully utilized, thus substantially increased the efficiency, accuracy of the analysis and visualized the assessment results.
