The outbreak of algal blooms is related to hydrological factors such as flow velocity as well as to nutrient salts and illumination and so on. Based on the case study of Tongzi River of the Palace Museum in Beijing, this article analyzes the effect of water-driving technology on restraining algal blooms and testifies that the increase of flow velocity can restain algal blooms to a certain extent. An experimental study of the effect of flow velocity on algal growth is presented and the relationship between flow velocity and algal growth is discussed.
